4 stars - January 30, 2012
Rarely does a sequal live up to the original. I really enjoyed The Descent and was very skeptical of watching the sequel. The main character has to re-visit the cave that she barely survived. After she gets into the cave, she must try to survive all over again while finding the friend she thought she killed in the first movie. Sort of a humanoid creature-feature. I would probably watch them back to back if I were to watch them again.
I love movies. This is a place for me to write my opinions, but I'll try to stick to 2012 and newer! This blog may have spoilers!

Train
4 stars - January 30, 2012
Train was one of those movies that you kind of know what's going to happen throughout the whole thing. Thora Birch's acting was pretty good though. This movie seems like it tried to hop on the Hostel train, no pun intended. American athletes in college are in Europe and take a train to reach their next destination, however, they obviously don't make it there. I would watch this one again.

Death of a Ghost Hunter
2 stars - January 27, 2012
Death of a Ghost Hunter is a B-level movie at best. It's supposed to represent a documentary about, well the death of a ghost hunter. There is no big names in this film. The acting was okay, some was decent, others were terrible. The story line was interesting, but if you follow any of the ghost hunting shows on tv, you get the gist of what this movie is about. I happened to think it was okay because the main character doesn't survive. It goes against the grain just a tad, but I wouldn't waste my time with this one again.

The Expendables
5 stars - January 6, 2012
What can I say about The Expendables? It was FREAKING AWESOME! I'm a child of the 80's so I grew up watching almost all of the actors. It was action packed as well as a little romantic as well. Dolph Lundgren takes a walk on the "other side" in this movie but is brought back to the good guys at the end. One thing I loved about this movie was that Gary Daniels was in it. Most of you probably won't know who that is but about 14 years ago, I rented his movies over and over and over again. Hot Brit!
I loved the action and explosions, the humor and the story line was pretty good. I can't really see how they could've made this one better.
All of the actors did a great job and I can't wait for the next one!

Working on a lot of reviews!
I have about 50+ reviews I'm working on. I went through my rental history to see what I have watched this year. I have them all started but just need to sit down and crank them out. So keep coming back if you are interested!

The Rite
2 stars - June 21, 2012
I felt this movie was just like every other exorcism movie. The only thing that made it decent was Anthony Hopkins, but even that made it hard for me to stay invested. The story line was okay.
Boy leaves home, family member dies, boy wants to go home, boy must man up and perform an exorcism, all the while trying to decide if he truly believes in God. And by boy, I mean man.
I definitely wouldn't have paid a new release fee to watch it.

Prometheus
3.5 stars- June 25, 2012
Directed: Ridley Scott
Produced: Ridley Scott
Is it an prequel, is it not?
Well that's a hard question to answer really. I keep hearing conflicting reports...
Needless to say, after watching this movie, I feel I have to re-watch the first Alien movie...
I felt the acting from Charlize Theron was mediocre at best. Patrick Wilson is in this movie for about a minute. I was disappointed at 1. I didn't even know he was in the movie, 2. he didn't have a bigger part.
Graphics were really neat, fluid and vibrant.
The plot was good enough, however, I think it could've been better. It's basically what you see in the preview. There is some back fill but if you follow the preview, you have a good idea of what the movie is about. The direction they took the movie was interesting. Searching out who created man on Earth. Eh.
There are a few subtle hints to the Alien franchise. If you have EVER seen one of the original Alien movies (not the AVPs) you will probably catch the hints. If you miss the one at the end, well you have not seen any Alien movie.
All of the "reviews" that I heard from friends, my favorite radio station, etc...said there was a "gag" factor. I guess I have a strong stomach. I thought it was pretty tame, but if you are faint of stomach, I would recommend keeping this in mind.

Wanted
3 stars - January 12, 2009
All in all, it was a decent movie. Angelina Jolie was of course, gorgeous in it and had to do the naked from the back scene. Nice. Hate you but nice.
The action was great in this movie, along with the special effects. But it was one of those movies that left me thinking "so what".
Morgan Freeman, as always has a pretty decent performance as well.
If you are looking for an action packed movie, with a okay plot line, here you go.

Twilight
5 stars - January 12, 2009 via DVD, although I did see it in the theater.
Alright, I give this movie ***** and I will tell you why.
I read all 4 books before the movie came out. I was a "Twilighter" and damn proud of it. The movie obviously had to leave some details out but I'm okay with that. I think it followed fairly close to the first book and I can't wait for New Moon to come out this year! But here are some more of my thoughts on the subject:
Bella is one of those idealistically realistic characters that you can transplant yourself into. She's the ordinary brunette with nothing special to offer really but being a reserved clutz living in her own dream world. Hmmm, how many of us can relate to that??? Hey, I'm mostly Polish so I know I can relate to the clutz part and guess what, I'm a brunette too! ;)
And on to Edward. Ah, wonderful, beautiful Edward. Can I say 'hey Rob great job on illustrating the man of millions of females' dreams!' Yeah, that's right, I went there.
The first time I saw Twilight, I dragged (actually she was willing) my big sister to the midnight showing. She couldn't follow along that well since she hadn't given in to the Twilight pull. After the movie, she ended up reading the series! Anyways, I was not thrilled with 90% of the casting. I think the only characters I really agreed with were Bella, Edward, Charlie, Jacob, Victoria and James. The rest really didn't agree with me. The second time I saw the movie, I started to really fall in love with the cast and decided that it was a great combination, except for one. I still didn't like who played Jasper. But I changed my mind the third time I saw the movie. Yes, 3 times.
I do think there were a few parts of the movie where our favorite vampire family were a little too pale. I know that they are vampires and all but being paper white really ruined a few scenes. Ruined??? Not the right word, took away maybe.
Oh, by the way. The bedroom kissing scene was one of my favorites. I can't wait for these guys to get closer and closer!
Kristen, Rob and the rest of the cast:
I can't wait to see the next installment and love you guys to death! If you are ever back in Washington, hit me up for dinner. LOL
